Let’s go back in time in 1927, when the French company SIDNA (today Air France) decided to build a radio station and signed a contract with the Bulgarian government for the use of the land. The idea of the project was to involve only Bulgarian citizens. In 1941 Bourgas Airport was redeployed back to Bulgaria. The beginning of the Sofia-Bourgas line was given in 1947, when the first Bulgarian passenger jet Junkers Ju 52/3m was grounded. During the next 10 years, the base is being expanded and modernized, followed by constructing a concrete track. The year is 1970 and Burgas Airport becomes international, with airplanes from over 45 different destinations begin landing and departing from it.
